| | www.mtv.com - At the San Diego Comic Con today, director Guillermo Del Toro announced that he would be writing, producing and maybe directing a remake of the "The Haunted Mansion", a movie based on the Disneyland theme park ride.
Del Toro, director of "Pan's Labyrinth", is a hardcore fan of the Disneyland ride and has actually been collecting memorabilia from the ride for a number of years now. He said the movie would revolve around "The Hat Box Ghost", one of the hypocryphal exhibits on the Disneyland ride that was rumored to have been too frightening for the ride. The truth is that Disney Imagineers could never get the feature to work properly so it was removed.
Del Toro recently announced that he was pulling out of the director's role for the upcoming "Hobbit" movies that have been repeatedly delays due to financial crises at MGM.
He appeared at Comic Con as part of the Disney Panel that also featured a preview of the upcoming "Tron Legacy" and a surprise 3D appearance of Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow to announce a new movie to be release next year, "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides." | |
